[ARCHIVED] Minuteman Regional Vocational Technical School - Blasting


Dear Mill St. Neighbors:


This is to give you an update on what you can expect with the building project over the next few weeks and months.


Blasting Schedule

The anticipated blasting schedule for the week of 8/28/17 is as follows:


Tuesday and Thursday, with 2 blasts per day between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM.



We anticipate that the blasting will end during the week of 9/11/17.



Blast Readings
Please note that we have been monitoring blast readings.  Readings for 3 specific houses on Mill St. are listed below:


60 Mill Street –


Average PPV = .043   Highest reading = .103   Lowest Reading =0    


Db levels – Highest reading – 98.05   Lowest reading = 0



36 Mill Street


Average PPV = .115   Highest Reading = .202 Lowest reading .061


Db levels – Highest reading – 116    Lowest Reading 109.5



10 Mill street


Average PPV  = .289   Highest Reading  = .349   Lowest Reading .229


Db levels = Highest Reading 124.5    Lowest reading 112.4



Massachusetts State Law the maximum allowable limits for SEISMIC ACTIVITY IS 2.0 and Db level is 133 ; all readings are well below the allowable limits.



Next Steps
Bridge and crushing operations are expected to begin during the week of 9/4/17.


Foundation concrete operations are expected to begin 9/18/17.

Cranes arrival and assembly, and steel are expected around 12/1/17.


Next Neighborhood Meeting
Our next Neighborhood Update meeting is scheduled for  9/26/17. We may move that date, depending on site work, as we hope to take a walk about the site.  I will send out a notice closer to the date to confirm.
