[ARCHIVED] Join our July 4th Parade!!

June 2015

Hello Lincoln Community,

We are writing to invite you to join the Town of Lincoln’s Annual Fourth of July Parade!

This year’s parade theme is Lincoln: Something to Crow About! Lincoln is proud of its agricultural heritage. First settled in the 1650s by farmers, Lincoln today is home to numerous farms and nearly 800 farm animals, including 417 chickens and roosters! Now that’s a lot of crowing! Please do join us on the Fourth of July, with or without your roosters, as Lincoln celebrates America’s birthday!

Our Parade Marshals are retiring Lincoln School teachers Terry Nathanson and Melissa Nordstrom, who have spent a combined 47 years teaching our children. This is our chance to let them know how much we appreciate their work on behalf of our students!

Or even better, we invite you to join us, rain or shine, with your best float yet! This year the stakes are high as the first place winner will have their team picture displayed in Town Hall. Also, first, second, and third places will receive golden rooster trophies. Take your float to the next level this year… No clucking around!

You can download a parade application online at www.LincolnRec.com and return it either electronically (PDF) to eventssubcommittee@gmail.com, or by mail to the Parks and Recreation Department at 16 Lincoln Road. On the morning of July Fourth, please meet on Ballfield Road before 9:45 a.m. We will be expecting you!

Please be aware of our policy on throwing treats. Because children zero in on treats like heat-seeking missiles, they are prone to running into harm’s way in pursuit of said treat. So please don’t encourage them by throwing treats from your float. Handing candy out alongside your float will be just as appreciated and much safer for all.

We hope to see you there!
