Volunteer Needed – Housing Commission
The Town of Lincoln believes that board and committee diversity strengthens performance, integrity, trust, and partnerships with our staff, community, and guests.
The Select Board is seeking an interested volunteer to serve a three-year term as an appointed member on the Lincoln Housing Commission to fill an immediate vacancy. Lincoln residents who have demonstrated interest or engagement in issues concerning housing, affordable housing, property development and/or management, local policy, land use or related topics are encouraged to apply.
The Lincoln Housing Commission is a welcoming and inclusive group that works to fulfill the town’s mission and ensure that a range of diverse housing options are available in town to meet the current and future needs of Lincoln’s residents. The Commission carries out the following duties: developing and promoting policies, programs, and regulations that preserve and/or increase housing that addresses such needs; maintaining Lincoln’s inventory of housing affordable for low- and moderate-income households in compliance with state policy; supporting town, regional, and state housing goals; and administering Lincoln’s town-owned rental housing units. The Commission is also responsible for updating the Town's Housing Production Plan every five years, with the next iteration of this process scheduled to occur in 2026.
Commission members meet once a month to discuss relevant issues and work independently and/or with town staff between meetings to conduct assigned tasks. Commission members are likely to also serve in liaison and/or representative capacities on one or more other town boards/committees, including ad hoc and internal subcommittees. The average time commitment for non-chair members is around 5 hours a month.
Letters of interest should be addressed to Select Board Chair Jennifer Glass and sent to Peggy Elder, Administrative Assistant in the Select Board’s Office, along with a completed volunteer application by April 15, 2026. Applicants are also encouraged to attend a Housing Commission meeting, held on the first Thursday of the month. The Select Board will interview and appoint candidates at its April 27, 2026 meeting. For more information, call the Select Board’s Office at (781) 259-2601.

Volunteers Needed – Capital Planning Committee
The Town of Lincoln believes that board and committee diversity strengthens performance, integrity, trust, and partnerships with our staff, community, and guests. The Select Board is seeking two interested volunteers to serve as At-Large members on the Capital Planning Committee starting in Fall 2025. One seat expires in 2027 and the other in 2028.
The Capital Planning Committee provides a format under which the town’s current and future capital needs can be identified, prioritized and given due consideration against the Town's fiscal constraints. The Committee weighs all decisions against the core values of the community and its desired quality of life. They manage a rolling 5-year forecast, as well as review annual requests for capital funding prior to Town Meeting approval. The Committee seeks Lincoln residents who have interest/experience in building and facilities management, grounds and infrastructure maintenance, technical systems development, and strategic planning. They should possess strong communication and collaboration skills, and a desire to serve the community through open and thoughtful civic engagement.
Letters of interest and a volunteer application should be addressed to Moderator Sarah Canon Holden and sent to Peggy Elder, Administrative Assistant in the Select Board’s Office, at elderp@lincolntown.org, not later than Friday 9/26/25. The Moderator will interview and appoint candidates as soon as possible. For more information, call the Select Board’s Office at (781) 259-2601.
