If you or a loved needs services to remain safely and independently at home, call the COA&HS. Amy Rettig of our COA&HS staff can help you evaluate what may be needed, make a service plan, and determine which agencies might be able to meet your needs. We are also happy to meet with elders and caregivers to discuss concerns related to elder issues. In addition, the COA&HS provides some services directly. 

The COA&HS also has office hours at Lincoln Woods that are open to residents no matter where they live. Natalia Dedkov will be at Lincoln Woods on the first Wednesday of each month from 9 am to 11 am and the third Monday of each month from 10 am to 12 pm.

Many elder services are available from local agencies to help you stay in your home. Make an appointment with Abby or Amy or call them to find out what services might help you live more easily and safely and what agencies provide them.

• Social day care, which offers activities in nearby centers for elders who need daily supervision

SHINE (Serving Health Information Needs of Everyone)

Counselors give help regarding health insurance, medical bills and long-term care needs.

Certified SHINE counselors offer one hour scheduled appointments the first Wednesday of the month or the third Wednesday of the month. Make an appointment by calling COA&HS at 781-259-8811. 

HOME SAFETY EVALUATIONS

The Lincoln Fire Department is offering free home safety evaluations and installation of free smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. They may also be able to help install grab bars as resources allow. Please call the COA&HS at 781-259-8811 to make an appointment. A member of our Lincoln Fire Department will come to your home and make suggestions about how to make your home safer from fires and falls. These evaluations are sponsored by the Massachusetts Senior SAFE grant program. 

MEDICAL EQUIPMENT LOAN

TRANSPORTATION

COA&HS transportation is intended for those who have no other means of transportation such as The RIDE, family, friends or caregivers and who cannot afford taxi service without it creating a hardship. The RIDE is the MBTA door to door transportation system for those who have a disability, and runs evenings and weekends. Please call the COA&HS for help applying for The RIDE. The COA&HS offers rides to medical and other appointments, local shopping, COA&HS activities and, occasionally depending on capacity, other local rides. Please contact Kat Kmetz at 781-259-8811 or kmetzk@lincolntown.org at least three business days ahead to book a ride. There is no charge for volunteer rides. The COA&HS’s medical transport rides are supported entirely by the 1st Parish Church and CHNA 15. Donations are gratefully accepted. The COA&HS can also provide assistance applying for or renewing senior Charlie Cards.
