Lincoln has a strong and deeply-rooted conservation ethic, which is evident as one travels the scenic roads and trails within the community. The Lincoln Conservation Department four-part mission includes:

1. Protect and manage the town’s open space by:
   • Providing sound Land Stewardship of Lincoln’s 1,600 acre of municipal owned Conservation Land. 
   • Providing trail signage which clearly communicates Lincoln’s Conservation Land Regulations.
   • Implementing the town’s Open Space and Recreation Plan.
2. Support the Conservation Commission in administering the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act (MGL Ch. 131 S. 40) and the Local Wetlands Protection Regulations. For more information on wetlands permitting, click here.
3. Provide environmental outreach and education to Lincoln residents. Staff hold bi-monthly virtual Conservation Coffees, seasonal trail walks, ranger nature walks, volunteer opportunities, and more! Staff provide relevant information through brochures (available on this website and the Conservation Office), lectures, and conducting site walks with homeowners. Together we have extensive expertise on wildlife, ecological design and management, plant identification, invasive-species control and water quality.
4. Advising and collaborating with other town boards, committees, and local environmental partners on matters pertaining to use, management and protection of the town’s natural resources and open space.
