Extreme heat can be dangerous, especially during stretches of hot, humid weather. Stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities, and remember: fans alone won’t lower your body temperature—use air conditioning or visit a cool location whenever possible.

  • Find a Cool Place:
Head to air-conditioned spaces like libraries, shopping centers, community centers, or senior centers. Call 2-1-1 to find nearby cooling centers.
    • Lincoln Public Library is air-conditioned and open to the public during normal hours. For assistance after hours, call Lincoln Dispatch at 781-259-8113. In an emergency, dial 911.
  • Know the Signs of Heat Illness:
Watch for dizziness, headache, nausea, confusion, or heavy sweating. Get medical help immediately if you notice these symptoms.
  • Cool Off at DCR Pools & Beaches:
The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) manages 79 waterfronts, 24 swimming pools, and 20 spray decks across the state- many with lifeguards on duty and accessibility features. These are great options to safely beat the heat.
