December 17, 2018, 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM @ Bemis Hall
Come to Bemis Hall on Monday, December 17, at 12:30 to hear Ken Hurd discuss “Lifting the Human Spirit by Design: Evoking Positive Emotions to Enhance and Prolong Life.” Drawing upon Ken’s 40-year career designing hotel interiors, he’ll explore how design affects human behavior both positively and negatively. There will be examples from his work as well as his travels, and he will touch upon some of the recent research in neuroscience for insights into how critical the built environment is to shaping our identities. Although applicable to our entire lives, he’ll delve more specifically into the lessons he’s deployed in creating environments that enhance the cognitive and emotional experience as people approach the end of their life journeys. Ken will also share how he has recently planned for downsizing in his own home. All ages welcome!
