LINCOLN ACADEMY: Lucretia Giese: Rivera and Rockefeller: Artist and Patron

Monday, April 23, 2018

Come to the Lincoln Academy on Monday, April 23 at 12:30 pm at Bemis Hall with Lucretia Giese who will discuss “Rivera and Rockefeller: Artist and Patron.” A newly “minted” New York skyscraper, a wealthy American patron of the arts and her son, and a volatile and prodigious Mexican painter came together in 1933. These are the ingredients of Diego Rivera’s Rockefeller Center mural “Man at the Crossroads,” which was to celebrate American technology and the American Worker. Join us to learn more about this story that resonates today. The lectures last about an hour, including a question and answer period. Participants are welcome to stay after the program to continue their discussion. All ages welcome!
