About the Board of Assessors

The Board of Assessors is responsible for maintaining estimates of the value of all real estate and personal property at current market levels as of January 1 of each year for the purpose of taxation. Annual preparation of the tax rolls and tax rate setting are our primary services. To this end, deed, building permit, and field review information is collected. Sales, property characteristics, ownership, legal description, and mapping files are created for valuation development and public information purposes. The Board of Assessors also administers statutory agricultural, charitable, and property tax exemption programs, as well as property tax and motor vehicle abatement services.
